Air Oil Cooler
- Jun 12, 2018 -

Oil is the most important fluid contained in a car. It is used to lubricate the moving parts of the vehicle and in turn, picks up a lot of heat. As with the enormous majority of the heat energy created by an engine, it normally needs to be released to the surroundings in the form of a heat exchanger. As with the water-cooling system – there is a radiator. As with the oil system – you use an oil cooler.

How does an Air Oil Cooler Works?

An air-oil cooler is used to cool fluid gear drives, power systems, torque converters and hydraulic presses. They are also used for lubricating systems of some turbine engines in reducing the oil temperature in the degree suitable for the recirculation of the system. An air-oil cooler is also included in the dry-sump oil system. This cooler may be fuel-cooled or air-cooled, and many engines use both. Subsequently, oil coolers are the only way of dissipating the oil heat.

Oil serves as the life support to your engine. However, when it comes to cooling the oil, this is an area that is often neglected. It is therefore important not to neglect the cooling system for this can lead to serious failure of the main internals of the engine.
